Satch Midnight

Pickup Position: Neck Pickup Type: Humbucker
Requires Expansion Pack: No
Artist: Joe Satriani
Author: VaiSatchAtrucci
Comments: Here's my stab at Joe Satriani's "Midnight" clean tone. Depending on your neck pickup, you'll need to add or kill some high end as well as compression.

It sounds great with the DiMarzio Liquifire pickups in my guitar.

I really like the amp used here because you can get a really ultra clean tone with just enough spank and sparkle to it for the teo handed tapping technique used here.

The only thing that wasn't quite as cool is the chorus in the 11R -vs- the chorus used on the original track, but hey what can you do?

Enjoy!

Satch Always W U

Pickup Position: Bridge Pickup Type: Humbucker
Requires Expansion Pack: No
Artist: Joe Satriani
Author: VaiSatchAtrucci
Comments: Here's another Satriani preset for "Always With You, Always With Me"

Sounds great with my DiMarzio CrunchLab in the bridge of my guitar.

Not much else to say about this one as it's pretty straight forward but I also like how it sounds using the Plexi Amp too so experiment with that as well.

Have Fun and Enjoy!!!

EJ CliffsOfDover

Pickup Position: Bridge Pickup Type: Humbucker
Requires Expansion Pack: No
Artist: Eric Johnson
Author: VaiSatchAtrucci
Comments: Ok here is my patch that I demo'd in my YouTube video which is a crack at the Eric johnson / Cliffs of Dover tone but with humbuckers 'cause my Petrucci's don't have single coils obviously so it's as close as I could get i think.

I find that I like the Ribbon mic at lower volumes, but the 414 is more in your face a bit so I like either one so just experiment.

You can also go with the Lead 800 amp if you like less of that overdriven Plexi breakup tone for a bit of a smoother sound which I also like too.

Lastly, the gain is set for a humbucker, and more specifically the DiMarzio Crunch Lab, so I'm not sure how it will translate to a single coil bridge pickup so I am curious to find out.

Anyway - tweak away and have fun with it!

Enjoy!

Satch Always Wah

Pickup Position: Bridge Pickup Type: Humbucker
Requires Expansion Pack: No
Artist: Joe Satriani
Author: VaiSatchAtrucci
Comments: Here's another take on my original "Satch Always W U" patch with a WAH added - not to be actually used but just to add that midrange that's present on the original recording. There is also some interesting usage of the volume pedal where again, you don't want to change the position at all because I don't have it set wide open to minimize the gain going to the amp so take heed when modifying any pedals because the volume is likely to get out of control a bit :) Again the WAH and VOLUME are not designed in this patch to be used with an expression pedal!

I set the volume lower right after the wah in an effort to lower the wah volume in the overall signal before it hits the amp input.

Here is a sample mp3 of the patch straight from the Eleven Rack to tape along with the backing track.

I backed off the reverb and delay a bit so you can hear more of the tone so it's a little drier than the original recording, so mix in a little more to taste.

As always - have fun with it and enjoy!
